Pennsylvania-born singer and poet Michael Jones is back with his latest single, Melts Away.
The award-winning singer-songwriter demonstrates his brilliant and complex lyricism on the new track. The care and attention given to Jones’ songwriting is evident in the detail of his music, with two of his songs We Are Soldiers and What is this Life For receiving awards and critical acclaim.
Although a published poet and writer, Jones often turns to music in order to captivate audiences through a different medium. His deeper vocals combined with intricate storytelling draws comparisons to Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan, and Melts Away is no different. The song reminds listeners to keep a firm hold of themselves in relationships and warns of the dangers of the “overplayed notion that relationships are only ‘real’ if one gives up all of themselves to the other person.”
The single is taken from Jones’ upcoming EP American Poet Part II, and his recently published book The Enemy of Everything continues to receive praise.
The combination of catchy melodies and intricate poetry makes Michael Jones’ new single an instant classic among his well established fanbase. You can listen to Melts Away here or watch the Lyric Video for the song here.
