London Songwriter Hedara Makes No Excuses in Potent, Alt-Pop EP (Fans of Jessie Ware/ Banks)

Artist: Hedara

Release: Hurts (17th January) : LISTEN HERE

Returning at the start of a new decade, Hedara continues her rich vein of electronica-tinged pop with her second EP ‘Hurts’. Releasing off the back of an incredible debut year for the project, it’s a release that explores the artists personal experiences through the vehicle of emotive, nuanced alt-pop songwriting.

Pursuing her passion for music from a young age, Hedara (real name Scarlet Billham) graduated from London’s famous BRIT School alongside Freya Ridings and others. She was enjoying a lively start to her music career, performing a number of key shows and festivals, before a near death experience, falling into a diabetic coma caused her to re-assess and re-evaluate her outlook.

Finding her way back into music, she began working with Carey Willetts (Dua Lipa, Freya Ridings, Dermot Kennedy). Together they co-wrote Hedara’s first EP Slow. Scarlet soon sent her music to industry friend Tom Speight, who loved her sound an..

Anathema Announce We’re Here Because We’re Here European Tour

Anathema will be celebrating the 10th Anniversary of their iconic release ‘We’re Here Because We’re Here,’ by taking the album on the road for a series of exclusive shows throughout Europe in March. They have now announced the support acts for the tour with Rendezvous Point as main support and Masvidal opening up the proceedings.

The Nordic progressive metallers Rendezvous Point released their sophomore album ‘Universal Chaos’ to rave reviews last year and Masvidal is the solo vehicle for Paul Masvidal (Cynic/ Æon Spoke) who has recently recorded a trilogy of records, Mythical Human Vessel.

Talking about the tour Danny Cavanagh says; “We never usually do anniversary tours of particular albums, but in the case of ‘We’re Here Because We’re Here,’ which is the album that began our rebirth, we feel this is something we want to do. What I love about this album and that time in our journey is the life affirming qualities in the music. It’s an album of hope, reflection, of summer, of an int..

London based independent artist Margot mool releases new single ‘Strip It’, coinciding with an exhibition/launch centring on work by non-binary artists.

Providing a listening experience that will have your body moving whilst contemplating its place in the universe, the project features composition from margot, lovingly brought to life by an eclectic mix of musicians, with influences ranging from J Dilla to Betty Davis and Hiatus Kaiyote.

Following on from previous release ‘Pay Rise’ which donated all profits to the Justice4Grenfell, ‘Strip It’ explores themes of self-acceptance, journeying from sensual soul to scratchy rock n’ roll, reflecting the bizarre universal struggle to be ‘attractive’ in the face of heteronormative beauty ideals, all the while drenched in margot’s smooth, deep vocals.

This year (2019) The Zombies were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in a British invasion alongside Radiohead and The Cure. On stage with the rest of the band was Chris White; the man who co-produced and wrote more than half of the seminal Odessey & Oracle album, who composed (the now standard) This Will Be Our Year and who penned and co-produced the worldwide hit Hold Your Head Up for Argent. His acceptance speech from the night, widely quoted in Rolling Stone, beautifully summarised the golden age of recording: “Music and songs are the bookmarks in all our lives, it’s the language that binds us all together”. The Chris White Experience is an incredible collection of unreleased recordings from the last 50 years.

After The Zombies, Chris White produced records for a number of diverse artists (Colin Blunstone, Ar..
