Emperors cries out proudly that “We Are The Emperors”

Emperors is the persona of gender-fluid drag king/queen Stephen/Cassandra, who aims to break the binary of electro-pop in “untraditional dada-esque fashion.” Their rallying call of a release, ‘We Are The Emperors’, seeks to do just that.

The production immediately chirps into life. Porter Robinson-style vocalisations echo out over rising synths before dropping away as Emperors arrives. What pipes up is a smooth, sultry baritone – like a more assured John Grant. It’s a striking delivery that dri..

Wavewulf releases his spectacular celestial album ‘Space Art and Angels’

A connoisseur of vintage synths and keyboards, Wavewulf is an experimental artist to watch out for. Smooth production mixed with gargantuan soundscapes make for a unique and exciting take on electronic music. His ethos is just as wide as his music, basing his current album on concepts of the universe and the soul, of life and death and the human condition. He also used the tragic loss of his parents as inspiration, with songs that have all-encompassing feelings of desolation, awareness and poignant sadness, balanced out with songs that feel like a celebration of their lives, showing how much they meant to him. When you know the context it really gives you a whole new perspective when listening again. It hits differently.

Wavewulf really picks up on a variety of inspirations for his music, from David Bowie to Brain Eno. There are also references to video games and movies from the 80s and 90s as well as a particular proclivity for Depeche Mode, whose music started Wavewulf on his path ..

Wavewulf blasts into the musical stratosphere with new album ‘Space Art and Angels’

22nd January 2021 is a date that is destined to be marked in the annals of electronica history as the day that Wavewulf released his seminal synth masterwork, ‘Space Art and Angels’.

This album takes the listener on a supernatural voyage of galaxies, stars and supernovas that conjures up irresistible images of tranquil constellations and milky ways. Wavewulf is able to engineer this impact on the listener through his mastery of the synth that perfectly encapsulates an intergalactic sound, whilst the artist has also demonstrated his ability in conjuring up very powerful earth-bound emotions.

The album’s opening track track ‘Space Capsule’ is a wonderful instrumental composition that would perfectly fit into any science fiction film soundtrack and instantly demands the listener’s complete attention. The album’s stand out tracks lie in ‘Voyagers’ and ‘Ghosts of the Past’ which have an eerie vibe to them thanks to the exceptional synth playing combined with a gentle drum beat that creat..

Araya Maps Internal Journal in Debut Album ‘Atlas’

January saw the release of singer songwriter Araya’s debut album, Atlas. The Brooklyn based artist has been gaining critical acclaim from the music press and distributors alike.

Having written music from a young age, Araya perfects his skills in this album, which charts his quest for self knowledge. This reflection is particularly evident on the track ‘Eden’, which suggests that self acceptance is Araya’s route to happiness.

Atlas, with its soulful vocals and slick production, has the makings of a successful, soul-tinged pop album. The album journeys from the funky keys of the upbeat ‘Dancer’, to the mellow guitar in the reflective ‘Sad Song’.

‘Color Palette’ is a fun, bouncy celebration of colour, but it’s the deep honesty of ‘Eden’ which makes the track my favourite.

Greer Baxter kicks off 2021 with her enthralling new single “Sleeping on the Couch”

Greer Baxter’s “Sleeping on the Couch” is one indie pop song that is set to blast its way through portable speakers across all university campuses in 2021. This captivating song details the all too relatable tale of sleeping on the couch after an argument with a loved one.

Greer Baxter’s insanely compelling voice conveys all the emotional pain of an argument with your other half. The song’s infectious melody only adds to the commanding piano presence and pounding drum beats to create an irresistible, evocative atmosphere. Baxter explains:

“I wrote this song about suddenly being at odds with the person you love and trying to make sense of it. We’ve all had a night sleeping on the couch and we wake up in the morning thinking: why would we let a fight keep us apart for the night? It’s about wanting to resolve it before falling asleep and wondering if the other person feels the same.”

Haling from New York City, Greer Baxter always showed exceptional musical talent from the start, lear..
