Araya redefines lo-fi music with impressive 14-track debut album ‘Atlas’

Brooklyn based Thai-Chilean singer and songwriter Araya is following in the footsteps of revolutionary lo-fi/r&b artists like Joji and Easy Life who are shaping perspectives of modern music.

Using his music to express his identify and encourage others to do the same, his creativity can be seen through his thoughtful videos, individual fashion sense and his willingness to never tie himself down to a particular genre.

Born and raised in New York, like many young people Araya has always dreamt of a career in music, first writing his own tracks at just 10 years old. He uses his music as an opportunity for self-understanding and reflection, taking the listener on a journey into his mind.

The weird and wonderful ‘The Fabulous Red Diesel’ are a collective like nothing you’ve experienced before. Drawing on influences from all aspects of nature, the group give off an effortlessly cool, laid-back, hippie vibe and will have you mesmerised by their swooning soul and addictive jazz melodies.

Their new album ‘The Queensbury House Sessions’ is set to expand their reach to fans across the globe, capturing the hearts of fans of a thoughtful, soothing sound.

The Hastings-based group is made up of Ms Kitty (Kat Lee-Ryan) on vocals, keys and flute; her husband Duke Boom (Will Lee-Ryan) on drums; transgender musician Miss Bea-Have (Beatrice Gullick) on double bass, tuba and trumpet and Rabbi Jaffa Delicious (Simon Dobell) on guitar and trumpet. Electronic and theatrical musician Stefan Elefteriu has worked in the music industry for over 40 years. Stefan is not only an incredibly talented composer but also very technically capable. He’s only a classical composer, keyboard player, violinist and cinematic story-teller, and has built his own own studio and synthesisers.

If you haven’t already heard the name Chris Andreucci, it’s definitely one you’ll be getting to know soon. With an appearance at the SSE Hydro Arena in Scotland, a record contract and plans to move to the
revered heart of country music, Nashville (US), Chris had all the steps he needed to become Scotland’s next big country star until we were struck by the pandemic.

Like many who have had to adapt their plans due to Covid-19, his appearance at the ‘Country 2 Country festival’ at the SSE Hydro and his opportunity to move were cruelly snatched away, leaving him wondering how he would still make it in the country world. Singer-songwriter Anita Gabrielle, self-proclaimed “dyke in a hat”, has spent her life fighting against obstacles put in her path as an artist. Now she fights for a new cause, to aid the research and fight against Parkinson’s disease.

She finds inspiration from her brother Michael, who lives with it and is looking to raise awareness and funds to assist others affected by the condition, especially since it was her brother who introduced her to the music of Joni Mitchell. Nonetheless, this EP is a tribute to their relationship, which also features the greatness of Grammy Award-winning Amy Wadge.
