LearningToDive releases a mountain of sounds with debut album ‘Norwegian Pop’

A delightful soundscape of 80’s New Wave, LearningToDive’s ‘Norwegian Pop’ is out now. The debut album is full of atmosphere and beautifully engineered tracks that are chocked full of smooth synths and beats that just make you wanna lie back and relax. Full of references to the passage of time and nature, this album has been a culmination of LearningToDive’s life experiences and his recent years questioning his place in the world; if you are a fan of existentialism, boy is this the album for you.

The first song off the LP is ‘I Stand On An Ice Floe’ with a new music video just out to boot. It reminds me of the atmospheric music from the television programme Heroes, the strings are gorgeous and really meld with the synths, centring the music right to the last note of the beat which gets smaller and smaller, really showing the desolation that this song embodies. Marking the fifth anniversary of his Mum’s passing, film and TV composer known for composing ‘Harlots’ ‘The Salisbury Poisonings’ and ‘My Cousin Rachel’ released his new album Mother Echo 17th November. With his Mother’s death inspiring the ten new tracks presented on piano and string quartet. This follow up to his hugely successful debut Mandrake has given Rael Jones the freedom to explore textures of sound and melody that counteracts the approach desired by film and television.

Being championed as one of the most inventive and skilled British composers currently working, this composer and multi-instrumentalist has been nominated for three primetime Emmys, a World Soundtrack Award and won a Golden Reel.

Recorded with his heavily pregnant wife on violin, Mother Echo is his most personal work yet, seeing him reflect on death, childhood, and the relationship with his mother. Rael explains:
