The Beautiful Reality of Beautiful Trauma

One of my absolute all time favourite music videos is Beautiful Trauma by P!nk. The song and video accompany each other so well, whilst the video tells a depressing and all too familiar story for some people.

Starring P!nk herself, and heartthrob Channing Tatum, the video features incredible costume, inspired from the pinup 60s housewife aesthetic. Throughout the whole video, the colour co-ordination matches perfectly, to the outfits and also the emotion being expressed in the video. Overall, extremely satisfying to look at.

The story behind the video is a lot more intriguing. I feel like it has one strong message about the unfortunate reality of abusive relationships, and how men should give their more “feminine side” a chance, be more emotional and feel things from their female counterparts side.

Chelou – Out Of Sight

At first glance, its easy to pass this video off as a cartoon about a three-eyed space girl and her one-eyed dog driving in a convertible retro floaty car through a futurama-esque alien world. Standard stuff.

But on closer look, this video is about self acceptance and reflection. Wouldn’t we all like to be a cool space girl riding on a car to drink some space dust in a space bar? She screams and runs from being faced with herself, ultimately to come face to face and see into herself clearly.

This video is perfect for those evenings after a long walk to the park. You know what I mean. Lie back, chill and listen to the hypnotic beats of Chelou.

SFZ shares inspiring new single ‘Elevate’

Joe Ordish, the mastermind behind SFZ, has released entirely self-recorded and self-produced single ‘Elevate‘. A track that will simply elevate you with each listen, the new release from SFZ is bathed in authenticity.

Multi-talented SFZ, an exciting new rapper bursting on the UK Hip-Hop scene, is also a classical-trained piano player, which has seen his new track draw likeness to samples used by the Legendary MF DOOM.

Rapping about personal experiences and honesty, Joe has been through his own struggles and uses music as a sort of escapism. Sharing positive and relatable content, Joe states “We should be role models for ourselves and for those around us, to be kind and to love.”

“Elevate” may feature a more simplistic approach to it’s arrangement, but it’s fuelled with an ultra-chill vibe. A single that could easily fit into the mainstream charts, there’s something still ‘underground’ about SFZ, and it still feels like he’s the best kept secret in the hip-hop world.

Just Checking In: New series by Quite Great TV

Quite Great TV has now released the first episode of our new series ‘Just Checking In’.

Presented by one of our writers here at Quite Great (Chloe Mogg), we welcome you to the first episode of our series about mental health and disabilities.

In this introductory episode, Chloe tells us about her own experiences with mental health and her disability in order to inspire viewers to do the same and to “speak out!” if they feel that they need support. Especially now as we are under a second national lockdown and mental health issues are easily triggered: it is so important to find the support you need.
