Tamar Berk – “Shadow Clues”

This rather out there, independent entry is an example of a well-layered, thought-out track and a demonstration of simple but effective songwriting. It’s dainty beginning verse comprising entirely of a melancholic guitar riff brings a nostalgic feel of though you’re listening through your headphones, neck-crooked against the car window on a long drive. In that sense, the track also uncannily acts as a soundtrack that could score a coming-of-age or neo-noir flick that opens with an establishing shot of a an empty road winding through a tall forest underneath a gloomy, rainy sky.

The introduction of the vocals, however, separate from the chilled, lo-fi soundscape and attune the track with a rougher, more rushed feel. This, in turn, changes the dynamic of the song, which in honesty was rather unneeded, provided that the beautiful simplicity of the guitar alone could be listened to for the track’s entirity. Steady Rollin brings an accordian to the guitar fight in their upcoming single ‘Donde Te Has Metido?’

Dropping May 24th, Steady Rollin is merging blues-rock and the Spanish language seamlessly in their release ‘Donde Te Has Metido?’ (Where Have You Gone?). This will be the El Salvadoran musicians’ first Spanish language track and promises to leave listeners with an earworm of a tune.

As the song kicks in, the trio instantly commands attention with a soft acoustic guitar that steadily builds into a heavier variation. With metal like pacing driving the track forward but letting each beat hit and resonate, ‘Donde Te Has Metido?’ culminates in a sinfully melodic chorus that is equal parts toe-tapping and impactful. The tone is kept on track narratively with equal parts playful energy and emotional performance, weaving the tale of a love like no other that changes a person’s perspective on life, to only lose it when the things fall apart. Albanian foodie and rap fan-favourite Action Bronson has long been renowned for his free-thinking, rebellious attitude. The lovable artist has a certain decor and demeanour in his music and lifestyle which separates him from those in his genre.

Bristol arts project backed by IDLES, Massive Attack and more of city’s biggest creatives

The newly formed Bristol United Guild (BUG) will support the city’s arts sector, and has been endorsed by some of the biggest names in film and music to come from the area.

The likes of Massive Attack, IDLES, and Portishead fly the flag for Bristol’s music scene, and were some of the first to announce their support for the initiative. Whereas pop culture fan favourite Maisie Willaims of Game of Thrones, Oscar-winner Daniel Day-Lewis, and TV stalwart Stephen Merchant were also among the names to sign a statement of support.

Like arts and culture sectors all over the globe, Bristol’s creative industry has been hit hard over COVID-19, which was an overriding factor that brought about the formation of BUG.

Foo Fighters have released an all-new cartoon music video for ‘Chasing Birds’, taken from their latest record Medicine at Midnight.

Fans can watch Dave Grohl, Taylor Hawkins and the gang navigate their way through a psychedelic desert, before being swallowed by the depths of hell.

The animated story shows the band going from good trip to bad, with talking cacti and wales leaping through the sand behind them as the cartoon sextet play atop a glorious sunny rock, only to find themselves running away from giant scorpions and a Shining-style tsunami of blood.

Legendary multi-instrumentalist, musical and style icon Prince died on this day in 2016, which has called for the music industry and wider advocates of Prince’s stand-out, fearless personality to remember him.

Prince’s flamboyant style and insurmountable talent as a musician propelled him to the top of charts and in front of his musical counterparts, and ensured he was celebrated by fans from many different walks of life.

Over his career the megastar sold over 150 million records worldwide, from his prolific plethora of 39 albums, none more timeless than his 1984 studio album, ‘Purple Rain’, which spent six continuous months atop the Billboard 200, and which provided a soundtrack that transcended generations.

StarMoney releases authentic trap banger ‘Catfish’

‘Catfish’ is a response to all of the fakers in the world, specifically online; people who hide behind their screens and display a lavish lifestyle that they don’t lead. It’s a commentary on being yourself and being true, something that StarMoney holds in high regard. Collaborating with fellow up and comer ‘Snap Capone’, this tune has deep bass and class beats, only improved by witty lines and excellent flow from both rappers. Snap is an effective addition to this song, with his bars bringing an original twist.

StarMoney, who wants to make a positive difference by entertaining, believes in educating future generations on the risk of drugs, knife and gun crime in an effort to stop them carrying out these offences later in life. He’s even organising kids ‘fun days’ when lockdown ends to aid in this endeavour.
