As reported by NME, Manchester’s Parklife is set to hold its 2021 edition in September, organisers have revealed.

Next year’s festival, set to take place in the city’s Heaton Park, was originally planned for the weekend of June 12-13, but has been pushed back due to ongoing coronavirus concerns.

The 2020 edition of Parklife, which had been set to welcome performances by the likes of Skepta, Lewis Capaldi, Robyn and Tyler, The Creator, was cancelled in late March due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

After organisers promised that Parklife would return in 2021 “stronger than ever”, the June 2021 date was set back in August, but has now been moved back to the tail end of next summer.

As reported by NME, Dua Lipa‘s recent ‘Studio 2054’ virtual performance has broken online livestream records with over five million views.

The online gig garnered five million not-yet-final views, including over 1.9 million unique log-ins from China, 95,000 from India and 263,264 tickets sold across the regular ticketing platforms.

Blossoms announce virtual O2 Academy Brixton gig

Blossoms have announced that they will be playing a virtual gig at O2 Academy Brixton next month.

Taking place on December 3, the ‘Live From London’ performance will mark the Stockport band’s first return to the venue since their sold out ‘Cool Like You’ UK tour back in 2018.

Fans can watch the one-off show via the MelodyVR app on smartphones and by using VR headsets.The latest livestream technology allows fans to virtually join the band on stage, choosing from multiple camera angles, and getting a 360° view of the action.

Ticketmaster could require proof of COVID-19 vaccination for concerts

It follows a disastrous year for the company, with the widespread cancellation of gigs due to the pandemic causing the firm to report a 95.1% drop in revenue in the third quarter of 2020.

Live Nation posted a net revenue of $184 million in the period from June to September, a huge drop from the $3.77 billion they raked in during the same period last year.

As IQMag reports, however, CEO Michael Rapino remains upbeat about the company’s fortunes next year after being encouraged by the small number of fans who have returned tickets for refunds, as well as strong festival sales for next summer.
