Winchester 7 & The Runners release a classic 80’s rock tune ‘When The World Stops Spinning’ with a ukulele twist

This one-man band creation is jam packed with classic 80’s rock sounds and psychedelic inspiration. Perfect for a bar brawl scene in a movie, this track has classic washed out cymbals and reverberated vocals, culminating in a colourful instrumental bridge that really takes the song to another level.

There is a brilliant character to this song, from the souped up ukulele to the cloned band members, inspired by Logan’s Run. The lyrics are pared back to leave room for the lively instrumental, the song builds up really well and is a definite foot tapper.

The lyric video has a persona of its own, with fun disguises for each ‘band member’ and hypnotic visuals, making you feel like you’re trapped in a strange loop that you can’t get out of, representing the lyrics of running away again and again but getting nowhere. There are also first-person perspective camera angles which situate you within the video itself – you’re running away just as much as he is. It’s just a colorful fun song that..

Groove-Heavy Indie Band ‘Four Crooks’ Take Lockdown to a Whole New Level, Recording New EP ‘Black Magic’ on a Remote Farm

Four Crooks, an indie four piece from the West Midlands, have taken lockdown to a whole new level by recording their new EP ‘Black Magic’ on a remote farm.

In a totally random first encounter involving a band member being kicked out of a bar, Four Crooks have combined their talents and experiences to create a much-needed blast of real indie rock that is now so rare in our world of studio trickery and effects.

The band, consisting of Dave Morris (vocals/guitar); Eamonn Russell (guitar); Toby Barnett (bass) and Dan Quinton-Jones (drums), have dealt with both the law and their own demons and have perfectly honed their craft, with a sound similar to those from the early Arctic Monkeys and The Black Keys.

Listen to Black Magic here:

The EP consists of three songs; ‘Black Magic’, ‘Paranoia’ and ‘Feel Alright’. In each song we hear different narratives from the band including honesty about their mental health and relationships. ‘Black Magic’, the title track for the EP, explores a medi..

Paul Tully addresses ‘Anxiety’ with upbeat new single

Singer-songwriter Paul Tully has released his latest track ‘Anxiety’, a song that brings a condition that affects millions into the spotlight.

After 2013’s successful debut EP ‘Lyric for the Lost’, Tully once again shows how far his songwriting has developed, even being described as a “craftsman” by BBC Radio Ulster’s Ralph McLean.

Though addressing a topic that is seen as overwhelmingly negative, ‘Anxiety’ flips this, with Tully finding acceptance rather than denial or frustration.

The topics of Brexit, the Coronavirus Lockdown, and increasing costs of living are listed as reasons for the writing of the song and a growing sense of anxiety globally.

Tully has said that he hopes the song can “bring a sense of comfort to those suffering from anxiety and let them know they aren’t alone”.

The song keeps this hopeful tone throughout and is a brilliant demonstration of Tully’s songwriting abilities.

Although lesser known here in the UK, Tully’s reputation in his homeland of Ireland is ..
