Anita Gabrielle releases the radiant EP ‘Just Neat’ to help research into Parkinson’s Disease

Anita Gabrielle has been making folk music since the late 1960s, when her brother Michael introduced her to the powerful sounds of Joni Mitchell.

Her talent blended with her supreme work ethic saw her achieve national coverage in the 1980s with her band The Crew. She has also supported seminal artists such as Divine and Labi Siffre.

Anita has always strived to have a broad musical pallet. She has incorporated acoustic rock and pop into her music through her collaborations with artists like ZeNaNa and The Favourite Aunties.

However, ever since her brother was tragically diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease last year, Anita has made it her primary mission to enhance research into the disease through her latest EP ‘Just Neat’.

This EP is comprised of 6 wonderful tracks that were materialised during lockdown, with the intention of raising funds for Parkinson’s disease research. The EP’s leading single ‘Best Friends’ is a soothing experience fronted by Anita’s ethereal vocals, tranqui..

Anita Gabrielle Releases EP to Raise Funds for Parkinson’s

Singer songwriter and activist Anita Gabrielle has experienced her fair share of struggles and obstacles during her music career; from being a woman, being gay, and now being a little bit older in the industry, she finds her opportunities to be limited – but this does not stop her from powering through!

The latest EP – Just Neat – was inspired by her brother who is suffering with Parkinson’s Disease, released with the aim to raise money and awareness for the assistance of others living with the condition.

With her brother being the inspiration behind her picking up a guitar and writing music in the late 60’s, this was a beautiful ode to their relationship.

Gabrielle even recruited the help of Grammy Award Winning Amy Wadge (best known for songwriting collaborations with Ed Sheeran), who plays pianos and sings on the EP.

Anita Gabrielle Releases Inspiring New EP ”Just Neat” to Aid Parkinson’s Research

Singer-songwriter Anita Gabrielle, self-proclaimed “dyke in a hat”, has spent her life fighting against obstacles put in her path as an artist. Now she fights for a new cause, to aid the research and fight against Parkinson’s disease.

She finds inspiration from her brother Michael, who lives with it and is looking to raise awareness and funds to assist others affected by the condition, especially since it was her brother who introduced her to the music of Joni Mitchell. Nonetheless, this EP is a tribute to their relationship, which also features the greatness of Grammy Award-winning Amy Wadge.

“Obviously, I was absolutely thrilled to be supported by someone with the credentials of an artist like Amy, who not only has worked with Ed Sheeran but many other major artists such as Camila Cabello and Lady Antebellum too”.
